Internet dating has become such a norm for meeting people nowadays, yet I’ve still remained skeptical. After reading Marry Him, I decided I needed to just get over it and expand my horizons, even if it scared the shit out of me. I’ve actually met a few different people via the internet, but none of them have been romantic interests. I’ve met single mom bloggers, obviously. I’ve also connected with some other moms via pregnancy.org. They’ve been with me long before I started blogging here at WordPress. They knew me back when I was still in love with Rooferman (scary). One of my preg.org friends lives in Boulder, so we decided to meet in the flesh one night. She took me downtown to Pearl Street and I met a plethora of her friends.
Aries Guy sat across the table from me, gazing intently while I tried to insert conversation amongst a very tight-knit group of a friends. They are Boulder townies to the MAX and their web of interactions was extremely intimidating. I needed a flowchart to keep up. But Aries Guy wasn’t loud or overbearing. He was direct and confident, like a rock in the background of all the buzzing bar talk. I could feel him sizing me up all night, but he never made a move.
Afterwards I asked my friend who he was. She gave me the full rundown and told me girls always put him in the Friend Zone, so he probably thought I wasn’t interested in him. A few days later, she texted me, saying he was asking for my number and could she give it to him? A few seconds later I get a text from Aries Guy asking if I wanted to go out some time.
I couldn’t remember the last time I’d been on a date. Oh wait, yes I do. And it was horrible. I was instantly sweaty.
To be Continued….
